“History, whether painful or celebrated, cannot be erased. The transatlantic Slave Trade is embedded in our history and has shaped the city that Bristol is today. The memory of the injustice and suffering should not be forgotten.
This booklet acknowledges the journey and draws on recent key events in the city such as the Apology Debate in 2006 and the visit of the African- American political activist Jesse Jackson in 2007.
It is hoped that this booklet will motivate and mobilise us all to take a stand in preventing all forms of slavery and its devastating impact on individuals, families and communities.
